I graduated High School with Carl Behrend and taught his daughter Naomi in the children's class at the church we both attended a few years ago.
Carl's newest book released in November 2006 is based on a true story of the 1911 Christmas Tree Ship bound for Chicago from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Erin Merryn and I became fast email friends when we bought each other's books. It's been a delight to follow her progress on the success of her book. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet in person someday.
Dave Distel tells this riveting true crime story that you will be glued to. You will not want to put it down. This murder took place in Ontanagon in 1992 and it took months to bring the killer to justice.
A wonderful book on the history of lumberjacks in the Upper Peninsula. I used this book as a reference for writing my John Horn book.
Jerry Harju, another Upper Peninsula of Michigan author. I haven't met him but I hear his short stories are great!
Robb Lucas lives in my hometown. He interviewed me on the local radio station. Nice guy, great book about Viet Nam.
Joann Hakala is from Ishpeming, Michigan. I've had the pleasure to meet and talk with her at book signings in our area. She recently won the honor of Upper Peninsula of Michigan Writer's Association 2004 Writer of the Year Award. Congratulations to a wonderful lady!
Mike Holm is a most interesting man to talk to. I met him where I used to work and he always has the most interesting stories to tell. A really nice guy and we've become friends. His book is worth checking out if you're into this type of information.
Read this excellent March review from Swat Digest

Dedicated to helping you discover your unique talents & gifts so you may live a life of purpose, passion & prosperity. Jasa L Bowser-Shaw tells the good, the bad and the ugly about being a Navy wife. This is the story about the robbery of a knitting mill. This event took place in 1972 in the small town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The main character in the story is Annie Roberts. At the time of the robbery, Annie is twenty, very young, naive, married and a participant in the crime. During the robbery, one of the robbers hands Annie some money. Annie promptly turns it in to police. The story then follows Annie’s life over a period of five years, until the statute of limitations is up for the crime. A lot happens in Annie’s life over the five years. All the while, Annie keeps in contact with the lead detective on the case, Detective Jameson. Finally, one day in the summer of 1977, Annie gets the long-awaited telephone call….
This is a riveting story but not suitable for young adults. Theodis featured me in his Author's Monthly for February, 2005 and gave me an awesome review. Thanks for the publicity! I think he ranks right up there with Stephen King with his Hell's Seed.
