How does it affect you?
I will include links here for some of the sites I've wandered across for sexual and domestic abuse- victims and survivors. I've also included my poem, THE HOUSE. This is a sensitive subject and I hope I handle everyone's links with sincerity. Sue William Silverman was born in Washington DC where her father was a high ranking government official He was also a child molester. "The moment I began to write 'Terror-Father' I felt as if I'd just learned to speak, that I heard my real voice for the first time." Catherine Brown is the author's pen name when writing about her children. A young woman's search for truth leads to a courageous battle to save her children. THE HOUSE It's walls drip with aging mildew I can smell rank, filthy, slimy green scum I can taste such a foul lifeless taste Trying to come alive but no more I hear the moaning the crying I feel the tears falling on my bed at night The house the one I live in each day I hate the house it has nothing for me So many bad memories Why must we live here? This isn't the house not the house I want for us It has no life It's dead The smell of death is here a constant reminder Four walls closing in on me Swallowing me up into oblivion Where are you? Gone You're always gone and I am here Alone Alone with the house that reeks of insanity It's stale in my mouth taste lingering Go away make it go away I'm being swallowed up by the house My mind obeys the sick depressing blackness Scream? I can't It won't let me Let me free The house has sucked me dry Taken all my emotions drained me of life They cling to the slime on the walls and laugh at me My emotions betray me No love excitement happiness Just a dull throbbing pain deep inside Get me out of here Destroy it Take me far away far away from The house © Brenda M Weber 2004 A Message Board for survivors of sexual abuse. HER BLACKENED EYES
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes
See how I detest your addicted lies
You seem to think you're some brawny prize
Your three piece suits and Tazmanian devil ties
Sitting in your board meeting you think you're so wise
From the floor with battered body I rise
Coming home you grab your fast-food fries
Stop at your connection and make your buys
You smile at the police officer behind your disguise
The situation he can apprise
I know your lows and he sees your highs
Another night of my pleading cries
The neighbor says Call before she dies
With all your excuses words and vies
The siren screams as the vehicle flies
You're in handcuffs as my bloodied face dries
There's a roomful of cops waiting to take you down a size
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes
You're the prize that I despise
The cop says there's no hope for you guys
I stand alone and say I hope he dies

SEARCHING FOR ANGELA SHELTON ![]()
In Searching for Angela Shelton, filmmaker Angela Shelton sets out on a journey to meet every other Angela Shelton in America. Her original intent was to survey the thoughts and perceptions of modern American women.
In the process she discovered that, like herself, 24 out of 40 Angela Sheltons had been raped, beaten, or molested . The making of Searching for Angela Shelton not only forced the filmmaker to confront her past but she also confronts her own pedophile father on Father's Day.

CBS's 48-Hours featured a special episode on the making of the documentary.
In her own words, "Searching for Angela Shelton has paralleled my journey as a survivor from the moment I drove into the unknown to meet every Angela Shelton, to the moment I made a commitment to heal myself. It has been very hard work addressing the issue of rape, battery and molestation everyday for the past three years but the amount of survivors who are deciding to change their lives because of it was worth all the effort. I have received thousands of emails and letters from people all over the world--male and female--who were sexually abused, raped or beaten and I receive more every day. Though this movie carries my name, it is not just about me or the Angela Sheltons, it is about an epidemic of child abuse, rape and battery that we must all address, no matter what our names are. If we heal ourselves, we can save our children." -Angela Shelton - the filmmaker

WHEN WILL YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN
I LOVE YOU
I HATE YOU
THE PATTERN IS SET
THE BLANKETS ARE BLOODY
AND THE SHEETS ARE ALL WET
I CRY IN MY SLEEP
AND PRAY FOR THE END
AND WHEN WILL YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN
I'M BEATEN
I'M BLOODY
I'VE BECOME WHO I AM
THE DEVIL IS IN ME
AND GOD'S HIS RIGHT HAND
HOW CAN I RUN
IF I CANT EVEN STAND
AND WHEN WILL YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN
PLEASE HOLD ME
PLEASE LOVE ME
I WISH I WAS DEAD
MY BODY IS FRIGHTENED
OF WHAT ITS BEEN FED
PLEASE HURT ME ONCE MORE
THEN CUT OFF MY HEAD
AND WHEN WILL YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN
OH WHEN WILL YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN

"Deep down inside was still that little girl who wanted to be happy. I not only punished myself, but I had punished the little girl inside of me. She had feelings too. I was being selfish, only thinking about my feelings, always forgetting that I still had the little girl inside.
She went through a lot of pain growing up and didn't deserve to still be in pain. It was time we started taking care of each other. The little girl inside had faith in me, and she never gave up on me. She was a fighter and knew I was the only one who could release the shame, the guilt and the pain." DANCING WITH THE DEVIL recreates the terrifying life Amy Norman experienced for four years with her violent, drug addicted boyfriend. Amy went off the rails and left school after her beloved ballet teacher told her she was too fat. She fell for Dean and his heady world of drugs and excitement. At 17 she left her middle class family and moved into a flat with him. Within three years she had had two children to him and numerous abortions. She had dealt drugs, became hooked on marijuana and been bashed countless times. She left him a few times, returning each time to her parents, brothers and sisters who welcomed her back with open arms. But each time she returned to Dean, out of fear that he would kill her, her children or her parents - as he had threatened. Finally after four years of unspeakable torment, she packed up the children and spent three years travelling around Australia - changing her identity time after time to avoid him. This book will hook you - everyone who has read it hasn't been able to stop until they know Amy survives and escapes. Her final triumph makes you forget the nastiness and violence and leaves you cheering her on as she launches a new stage of her life.
